About Lee
Hello world! I’m Lee DeGrande and I am writing to you from deep in the big ass heart of Texas. I am married to the man of my dreams, Jason (also known as Big J-Oda or darling-husband-super-dad-big-boss-man), and we have 2 gorgeous and hilarious boys, Nicholas (9) and Justin (3). The men in my life are where I get most of my inspiration to write which is natural since I am vastly outnumbered by testosterone filled human beings. We love living in Grand Prairie, just a 5 minute ride to our beloved Joe Pool Lake.
As I am writing this, I am now a work at home mommy. Up until a couple of months ago, I was running 3 of my Wrap Me Now! body wrapping salons, working on a new venture and a figure head at our convenience store, all of which now are either sold or closed, except for the station. That’s because even in a shitty economy and even when gas costs rival a cup of Starbucks java per gallon, people still need to fill up.
So most of my stories come from the life changing experiences of being a business owner when I was still by all rights considered a kid myself. My tinted view of the world is partly attributed to the very strict Chinese upbringing by very confused, Khmer Rouge escaping, yet still married parents. The rest of my perceptions were derived from the colorful events
I had willingly thrust myself into as a stupid pre-teen which continued until after I had my first child and met my now darling-husband-super-dad-big-boss-man on the internet no less (just look to the left to see why ladies). I will make sure to include these stories for entertainment value.
This site was conceived to help you work through some of the tougher issues of owning your own business and the relationships affected when you decide that you firing your boss is the way to a happy ending. The truth of entreneurship is sombering, humbling, exciting, frustrating, rewarding and at times lonely.
You will get the key communication tools that I learned from my days as an instructor & curriculum developer for American Airlines as well as the marketing skills & sales skills I picked up while traveling to almost every state in the country for a major California based marketing firm – Hobbs/Herder Advertising. However, some of my more vibrant stories will be from the times I spent with various Scientologists and voluntarily taking some of their courses. In the end, all of this has helped others start or augment their businesses as well as advance personally.
I’m also going to chronicle my trials as I get my web businesses up and running so that anyone who runs into similar frustrating issues will be able to get past the brick walls faster than I did. But also to show that you can do whatever the hell you set your mind to. I’m starting these businesses with shit-for-knowledge in this field but with high hopes creating successful ventures out of this. So I also am lucky to participate in www.BigJoda.com and www.AskDrJill.com (and no, I’m not Dr Jill) with future projects: www.GodlessTexan.com & www.easyvegetarianrecipesblog.com.
So if any of this is helpful to you, then hooray for me. All I ask is that you drop me a comment now and again to let me know of the progress you’ve made.
My best always,
Lee
