Host Gator Review
Is Host Gator as good for hosting as GoDaddy?
I had written about using GoDaddy for my hosting before, and even posted later comments here and on Twitter about the unacceptably slow connection times. Well after calling them countless times and asking them to help me trouble shoot, the answers I ultimately got were:
- Hmmm, that’s unusual because all systems were normal and they weren’t having trouble with other accounts.
- It may be the pictures I have loaded.
- It’s definitely the links I have because my site will only load as fast as the slowest link I have on my page.
- It’s shared hosting, so it will be slower during peak times. (Well, I was calling them all hours of the day, including 2am.)
Ok, so without telling me that it was my fault, they were telling me it was my fault. They didn’t even acknowledge an issue on their end. So I accepted it because I didn’t know any better.
Until I worked on my latest 30 Day Challenge which had an awesome new product this year called Word Press Direct – which hands down is the most amazing web monetizing system out there, but we’ll get to that in another post. The blessing in disguise was that WPD does not work with Go Daddy, which meant more money out of my pocket, but I also wanted this cool new feature to use on my monetized sites. So I begrudgingly set up a new unlimited hosting account for $7.95 with Host Gator.
What happened next was like getting lasik surgery after wearing prescription glasses for 30 years. My eyes opened up and the world just got brighter.
Instead of the 30-50 second load times (like has been written about on other sites) just vanished. My site now loads immediately and the longest I’ve seen it take to load was 4 seconds! Since my WordPress database was connected to Go Daddy as well, making updates to my site whether it be theme design or updating posts were torturous.
No more. So I wanted to make sure all of you who have tweeted me or emailed me about this, that it’s not your imagination. You are in a bandwith abusive relationship. There are options. You have a way out. We have a support group for you. Don’t be suppressed any longer. Get Host Gator! Or get some other faster host, but leave. Drop them like a hot potato.
I’ll even give you step by step instructions on how to move your blog over seamlessly without any interruptions. It’s so worth it.
Oh, by the way, it’s less expensive too. Just click on the banner in this post and you can get started for a penny. Just use the coupon ‘wordpress’ and let me know if I can help with your transition to a faster loading site.
I know that I just spent the entire post telling you much GoDaddy sucks, but they are still my favorite source for buying domains. I’ve always had good customer service when I had my credit card in hand.
Please let me know what kind of issues you’ve had with GoDaddy. Leave a comment below or email me at Lee (at) truthparlor.com

Can you tell me how to move a WP blog from ASO hosting to my HostGator account?
Hi Ronin,
I'm not familiar with ASO. However, let me know if it's like GoDaddy's hosting…meaning, is it c-panel based or non-cpanel based since they have different steps to accomplish a successful move.
Best,
Lee
Hey, I totally concur. I discovered you through Bing and after literally digesting your posting I decided to comment on your blog. My personal scenario is that I have already been using free web hosting without a website name before and also ultimately was bitten in the back. Free Internet hosting is not good and regardless of what you do on the web, it is best to have your own website name – just like you right here. Regardless of what topic you write about – this really is the way to go.

I’m not sure if I agree with everything posted but this was definitely informative and written nicely.
I have 100 domains on Godaddy and i can say that this company is very reputable.;;-
Great info! Thanks.
