Frustrated with WP Review Site Plugin

I have been working with this plugin for a couple of weeks now and I think I’m going to become prematurely gray! I’ve already confessed to know very little about programming, but I’ve been able to hack my way through codes thus far with great success.  Much of it was educated guesses or just trial and error and a relentless need to WIN at this game called the WWW.

I’m so FRUSTRATED with the WP Review Site plugin and feel like there’s so little support out there because it’s only been out since August ’08.  I wish there was a better, simpler alternative.  If someone has a suggestion, please save my black and partially bleach blonde hair from turning a pigmentless gray.

On the bright side, I’ve seen some sites that have implemented this plugin beautifully, so it gives me great hope.  I’ve even done something today that I was avoiding at all costs – reaching out to a professional programmer for help to alleviate some of this frustration.

Here are few:

http://topwpsites.com/ - The Top Sites About WordPress are featured on this site.

http://www.onlydev.com/ - This site has webmaster and hosting reviews.

http://telecomervaring.nl/ - This is in a totally different language than Lee-Speak, but just looking at it, I can tell the plugin has been implemented correctly.

My issues are this:

  1. I want to be able to exclude pages and posts at will. I don’t want everything ever written reviewed, so that makes the site look clunky and unprofessional.  I can’t do this in my own created theme or in the theme included with WP Review Site’s plugin package.
  2. I can’t seem to get the Search page results to return more than just the title and link to the result.  I have to manually click on the title to see the post or page – that’s annoying.  Though not really a bad functionality of the plugin if I’m guessing correctly.
  3. Somewhere along the way, all this hacking has caused my Google Adsense ads to not display properly. It now shows public service ads on my home page (where the truncated reviews sit), yet when you click on the actual item that is reviewed to see the entire post, the Google Adsense ads show up without any problems.  This is now happening on all of my themes for this particular site I’m creating.  So again, I don’t believe this is the fault of WP Review Site’s plugin.

That’s my wish list.  Short, but overwhelming to me.
